Equestrian Vibes

Growing up I remember begging my mom for horse-back riding lessons. I thought it was the coolest thing ever and I dreamed of being some jumper champion in Great Britain. Throughout the years, my family has owned several horses and although I never competed, I have always enjoyed attending horse shows (the Pennsylvania National Horse Show held close to my hometown is actually pretty legit) and riding whenever I get the chance.

The equestrian world has been the center of preppy, classic style for years. Think Ralph Lauren, J.Crew, Chaps, Lilly Pulitzer etc. I have always loved the animal, the sport, and the fashion sense that comes with it, from ribbon-tied ponytails and tall boots to bright pastels and big hats on Derby Day.

My favorite way to pull an equestrian look is with some tall boots and a classic blazer. I particularly love the black and camel/tan combo, especially during the winter months.

This Orvis blazer is a hand-me-down from my mom! She wore it in the 80s. Proof that the classic style never goes out of style!

Pair it a cute headband or a ribbon tied in a bow. Hair accessories like a fabric covered headband and a little ribbon add the perfect noticeable (but not too noticeable) detail.

And like every outfit–don’t forget your pearl earrings!
